Ross Purves: »Place, Landscape and Language«

Abstract

In my talk I will discuss efforts in our group to conceptualise and operationalise the concept of place, in the context of landscape research, through the analysis of language. I will link our work to theory in different fields and show examples of our ongoing research using a range of methods including empirical research and text analysis. I'll emphasise some challenges in operationalisation, and try to give an overview of ways in which I think this research can contribute to ongoing challenges.
